Rev. Rebecca “Becky” Conner

I was baptized at the age of seven, and bathed in the love of God all of my life. I believe in the love and grace of God for every person. I am currently a student of the Spanish language, and hope to become fluent one day. Bird watching is a hobby that I enjoy, and being at the beach is when I am in my bliss! I love New Orleans and the people of Louisiana, which has become my home.
I was born in Walterboro, S.C., about fifty miles west of Charleston, S.C. Grew up in S.C. and Lake City and Panama City, FL. I graduated from Charleston Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a minor in Religion in 1977.  I married Jeff Conner from Augusta, GA, in August of 1978.  Jeff and I have one son, John Conner. We moved to New Orleans in 1984 from Kentucky. I became a United Methodist by joining Felicity United Methodist Church in September, 1987. I graduated from the San Francisco Theological Seminary, CA, with a Master’s of Divinity degree in 1994. I was ordained as an elder in the LA Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1999.
I began serving as pastor of the Lacombe United Methodist Church in 1990, and have served churches in New Orleans, West Monroe, Morgan City, and as the Wesley Campus Minister at the University of New Orleans. I am currently serving as pastor of Algiers and Belle Chasse United Methodist Churches. It is a joy and an honor to serve these two loving congregations.
I was a co-founder of the Jefferson Players’ Community Theater. I served on the LA Adoption Advisory Board for two years, the Board of Ordained Ministry with the LA Annual Conference for eight years, the Hispanic/Latino Ministry Committee of the LA Annual Conference for six years, and served on the Board of the Lydia Patterson Institute in El Paso, TX, from 2012 – 2016.
